Tokyo has more foot traffic per square inch of sidewalk than virtually any other metropolitan area I’ve ever visited. It’s astounding that 13 million residents – plus untold visitors – can transport themselves with such efficiency and purpose, even in the rain. The image above was taken during a busy afternoon commute; the horizontal lines of the pedestrian crossing and umbrellas make an interesting pattern, further enhanced (and somewhat deconstructed) with a bit of creative license.
